August is here, and we're officially well over halfway through 2018. Make sure to revisit your goals for this year and ensure you're on track!

A focal point for Aintree Group in 2018 has been data security. In this newsletter we're running through the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - which is applicable to any business that holds personal information about a European citizen. If you have any connection to Europe (including the UK), please read the details in the newsletter below very carefully!

In the interest of best practice, we've introduced new policies to comply with these laws, including consent to store data. As your tax agent, it is implied in our initial engagement that you consent to Aintree Group collecting and storing personal details. If you choose to revoke that consent, please get in touch with our office by 15 August 2018.

Kind regards,

Shane McKenna

EU Data Protection Laws - What you need to know!

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires businesses to protect the personal data and privacy of European citizens. It applies to any business or organisation that stores any personal information that relates to a person located within the EU.

Personal information can include a person’s name, phone number, email address, identification number, online identifier, and location data.

Organisations which do not comply with new data protection laws in the EU and Australia can face tough penalties.

Investigate the data that you currently store. Identify data that relates to any person located within the EU, where the data is held, how it's processed and who may access it. This information should be thoroughly documented.

You should maintain specific and auditable records of all consent obtained from all your contacts with a connection to the EU.

You must also ensure that you have a GDPR-compliant Privacy Policy in place.

If you are an Aintree Group client or subscriber, and you hold a European citizenship (UK included), please complete this consent form and return it to our office as soon as possible to ensure we are complying with the GDPR consent laws.

Read more about the GDPR on our website.

Aged Care Seminar

We're very pleased to announce we'll once again be hosting Jayne from Millennium Aged Care Consultants to come and share her expertise at a free Aged Care information seminar for our clients and community.

Those who attended this seminar in March found it extremely helpful. Having an industry expert explain the ins and outs of the complex Aged Care system in Australia highlighted the importance of research and early planning.
